Callie Lebo Biography |

Callie Lebo was born in California in 1961. She was raised in Oregon and has since lived in four western states. She has spent time in southern France and currently divides her time between New Mexico and Maryland. Callie’s painting is greatly influenced by her love of nature and the desire to express and share the beauty with others.
Callie received a Bachelors of Fine Art from Whitman College in Washington State in 1983. She completed additional studies in Lacoste, France with the Cleveland Institute of Art. Callie has been an art instructor for over twenty five years. She currently paints and teaches out of her home Studio.
Callie has shown her work at various sites in Benalillo, NM, Art Adventures in Portland, Oregon, the Mariah Gallery in Olympia, Washington, the Holton-Arms school in Bethesda, Maryland, the World Bank in Washington, D.C., at her Dreamcatcher gallery in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and at Barnes and Noble Bookstore.
Callie’s primary emphasis is landscape painting in watercolor and oil. Her favorite subject matter is structures within the landscape such as historic New Mexico chapels or adobe buildings which depict a relationship between people and the environment. Callie believes that compelling art should be pleasing to the eye, but more importantly it should represent people and their surroundings in a historical context.
Callie approaches her work with meaningful process and deep appreciation of the moment at hand. Callie paints with the intention of sharing the beauty, mystery, and story with her viewers. |
